Luxury Hotel: Bayerischer Hof, Munich

The 5 star luxury hotel Bayerischer Hof is one of Munich's most legendary hotels. It was originally conceived by King Ludwig I, who in 1839, expressed his desire for a first-class hotel in Munich to Joseph Anton von Maffei. Maffei then commissions Friedrich von Gärtner, king’s favourite architect, to start the work. The Bayerischer Hof opened its doors just two years later, in 1841.

In January 2018 the Bayerischer Hof completed an almost two-year renovation. The project was headed by renowned architect Axel Vervoordt. An existing wing of the hotel was razed above the hotel's own theatre to give rise to 28 new rooms. Today Bayerischer Hof has 337 guest rooms, including 74 suites. Top-floor suites feature breathtaking views, private spa access, terraces or open fireplaces. The Penthouse Garden Suite that occupies the entire 8th floor is now the largest suite in Munich.

Bayerischer Hof features five restaurants, six bars and the theatre and the spa. Hotel's newest restaurants, Atelier and Garden, are by interior designer Axel Vervoordt, who also devised the Cinema Lounge; complete with its own Night Club with live Jazz. The iconic Blue Spa, offers barbecues in summer and an unique ice bar in winter with views of Munich.
